The
Cross at Kingussie is a family run AA five star rated “restaurant
with rooms” located in the lovely Highland
village of Kingussie within the stunning Cairngorm National
Park, surrounded by mountains, rivers and lochs.
Situated
in four acres of riverside grounds - featuring an abundance
of native trees, flowers and wildlife – The Cross combines
quality with simplicity and good food with a warm welcome.
Built
as a water powered tweed mill in the late 1800s The Cross
maintains the character and some of the original features
of the mill.
Champagne
is served on the terrace in the summer – and drams in
a cosy lounge in winter. Dinners are served by an open fire
in the stone walled and wood beamed restaurant. Menus feature
carefully prepared fresh and seasonal local and Scottish produce
and the wine list has been voted one of the best in the UK.
There
are two comfortable lounges in which to relax and unwind –
with games and books aplenty – and a plethora of local
information and suggestions for activities, walks and excursions.
There
are eight simple but comfortable bedrooms, all with large
beds and well equipped en-suite bathrooms including some with
separate showers. Each room has controllable heating –
and in half you can nod off to the sound of the bubbling river
below.
Breakfasts
include freshly squeezed orange juice, hot baked croissants,
homemade preserves, local comb honey, and an array of fresh
fruits, compotes, yoghurts & cereals. We also offer a
daily changing hot dish featuring local and homemade produce.
Awarded
a coveted three rosettes by the AA every year since 2004 and
The Good Food Guide has rated The Cross as one of the six
best places to eat in the Scottish Highlands.
Recommended
