Opening

The Cross is normally closed on Sunday and Monday evenings.

Lunch

We serve lunches to larger groups by arrangement.

Arrival and Departure

We suggest check-in from 2pm (4pm on Tuesdays please) and check-out by 11am. Do let us know if you intend to arrive in Kingussie on the overnight Sleeper train from London as we can offer alternative arrangements.

Dinner

Dinner inclusive rates – please note that dinner consists of 4 courses including appetiser, starter, main course, dessert or cheese, coffee and petit fours. Extra courses will be charged accordingly.

Smoking

In accordance with current legislation we apply a strict no-smoking policy at The Cross. Should you smoke in your bedroom we shall charge an extra £100 to your account to cover additional cleaning costs.

Children

Older children are most welcome at The Cross and babies can very occasionally be accommodated by prior arrangement. We have one family room that can accommodate two adults and one child (aged around nine or over) and one twin room that can accommodate two older children (aged around 14 or over). However, The Cross is not suitable for toddlers and smaller children and we do not allow children under 14 to be unsupervised at any time throughout the property.

We charge £40 B&B per night for a child sharing parents’ room. We don't charge for babies, but please note that we do not supply a cot or cot bedding. We have one high chair for breakfast service which is available on a "first come, first serve" basis.

We should add, however, that many of our guests come to The Cross in order to "escape" their own children for a night or two - therefore if your baby is teething and is likely to cry through the night or through breakfast service we are not the ideal choice for you. The Cross is not suitable for toddlers and very young children. The restaurant in the evening is suitable only for children of aged nine or ten upwards.

Pets

We regret that dogs (or any other pet) cannot be accommodated at The Cross.

Walkers and Cyclists

Cyclists and walkers are very welcome. We can provide covered secure storage for cycles and other equipment and emergency drying and laundry facilities, the latter for a small charge.

Guests' own Food & Drink

Although we operate as a restaurant with rooms rather than a full-scale hotel we are very pleased to serve refreshments to our guests during the afternoon as well as evening. We would therefore ask that guests do not consume on our premises meals or alcoholic drinks that they have bought elsewhere. We and our staff depend on the revenue from drinks sales and we therefore reserve the right to make a charge, including doing so retrospectively, at a flat rate of £50 per room per night where guests have brought and consumed their own meals and/or alcohol. In these circumstances we shall also charge in full for any damage caused or extra housekeeping required by spillage of drink or food.

Bookings, Cancellations & Payments

Our cancellation and billing policy is as follows:

We require your full address and credit card details in order that we can guarantee to hold your reservation.

Final payment is normally on departure. We accept cash or most major credit/debit cards for payment (not Diners Club). For credit/debit card transactions of £50 or under an administration surcharge of £3.00 will be added to the total bill. We do not accept cheques.

Once a reservation is made, a client has entered into a legally binding contractual agreement with the firm of The Cross at Kingussie.

Group bookings: we shall not generally accept group bookings of more than ten persons or five bedrooms for a single date without an exclusive use agreement. Where an individual is making a reservation on behalf of a large party, he or she will be held responsible for the payment of the total single account on departure. The Cross cannot guarantee to undertake to arrange individual accounts for each member of a party, and can take no responsibility for how the account is allocated amongst a group.

We do not make a charge against your card without your approval unless you don't show up or cancel all or some of your booking at short notice, as follows: for parties of up to 4 persons we shall charge in full for all accommodation and meals cancelled up to 7 days prior to arrival date, and subsequently not re-sold. And for parties of more than 4 persons and/or 2 bedrooms (including when booked individually or by separate sub-parties) we shall apply a similar policy for all accommodation and meals cancelled up to 3 months prior to arrival date.

Consequently, bookings must be guaranteed in advance and we strongly recommend that you arrange appropriate personal travel insurance.

In the event of a no-show or cancellation as described above we shall charge the full amount to the credit card details we have been given and a receipt will be sent to you at the address you have provided.

Where we are unable to collect the amount owing for whatever reason we shall take action through the appropriate legal process to recover monies due to us, plus expenses.

Cancellations or major alterations to a booking must be made in writing.

Our obligation is to take all reasonable measures to resell your package (i.e. accommodation and meals) and to minimise your loss as far as is possible and this we undertake to do. Therefore, where we have been able to resell all or some of your package your cancellation charge will comprise the full amount of the package originally booked with us less the value of what we are able to resell plus an administration fee of £15 per room per night.

Bookings, Cancellations & Payments - ALL ON-LINE BOOKINGS VIA EVIIVO FRONTDESK & OTHER DISTRIBUTION AGENTS

Our cancellation and billing policy for on-line booking is as follows:

Bookings

A 'booking' means any order for our products or services on this site that is accepted by us. Acceptance will be made by us (and a contract concluded) when we have received full payment from you. Once a booking is made, you have entered into a legally binding contractual agreement with us, the firm of The Cross at Kingussie. There is no agent involved in this booking process; the contract is concluded between you as the Customer and us as the Business.

Group bookings: we shall not accept group bookings of more than ten persons or five bedrooms for a single date via our on-line facility, unless by prior agreement, even when rooms are booked individually or by separate sub-parties. Where such a booking has been made we reserve the right to invalidate the contract. Unless within our cancellation period when cancellation terms will be applied (see below) we shall refund in full, less an administrative fee of £15.00 per each booking.

Cancellations

We strongly recommend that you arrange appropriate personal travel or holiday insurance. If you don't show up or cancel all or some of your booking package at short notice, as follows, the following policies will apply:

For parties of up to 4 persons and/or 2 bedrooms –

For cancellations made outside of 7 days, a full refund will be made (less a £15.00 per booking administrative fee for on-line refunds).

For cancellations made within 48 hours, no refund will be made.

For cancellations made within 7 days but outside of 48 hours, we shall charge in full for all accommodation and meals booked. Where we have been able to resell all or some of your package your refund will comprise the value of what we are able to resell less an administration fee of £15.00 per room per night.

For parties of over 4 persons and/or 2 bedrooms (including when booked individually or by separate sub-parties) –

For cancellations made outside of 12 weeks, a full refund will be made (less a £25.00 per booking administrative fee for on-line refunds).

For cancellations made within 7 days, no refund will be made.

For cancellations made within 12 weeks but outside of 7 days, we shall charge in full for all accommodation and meals booked. Where we have been able to resell all or some of your package your refund will comprise the value of what we are able to resell less an administration fee of £15.00 per room per night.

For Hogmanay Package bookings we shall charge in full for any cancellation made up to 12weeks prior to arrival date where we are subsequently unable to re-sell the package. Even where we have been able to re-sell the package in full we shall retain an administrative fee of £50 per room.

Cancellations or major alterations to a booking must be made in writing.

Payment

Full payment for at least the first night's package is normally required at the time of booking. Final payment to include meals, drinks and extras is normally on departure.

We accept most major credit/debit cards for payment (not Diners Club) although do note that we make a £3.00 charge for credit and debit card payments of under £50.00.

Where we are unable to collect any amount owing, including cancellation charges, for whatever reason we shall take action through the appropriate legal process to recover monies due to us, plus expenses.

Vouchers

We apply the same policy to voucher bookings, i.e. when payment is intended to be made by voucher a late cancellation or no show as descibed above will automatically result in the voucher being invalidated in full.

Hogmanay

Note that special terms and conditions apply to Hogmanay bookings.

Meals

We may well require your full address and credit card details (long number, expiry date, and security number) in order that we can guarantee to hold your table reservation. We do not make a charge against your card without your approval unless you don't show, cancel or reduce your number at short notice. For tables of more than four persons we shall charge in full for all meals cancelled up to 5 days prior to reservation date, unless subsequently re-sold. For four persons or less we reserve the right to charge in full for all meals cancelled up to 2 days prior to reservation date, unless subsequently re-sold. If possible, cancellations should be made in writing, by post or e-mail. Note that for tables of six or more we add a 10% cover charge to the bill.

Terms and Conditions

To qualify, you must supply name, telephone number and email address and agree to receive regular newsletter with special offers and promotions.

Discount vouchers will be despatched by email and to be redeemed they must be printed and surrendered at the time of your next visit.

Discount vouchers are dated and must be redeemed within 12 months.

Discounts will be taken from total cost of meals, including drinks but not other extras.

Discounts will not be offered in conjunction with any other offer or promotion.

Not valid for private events or for tables of more than six persons.

Not valid on key dates – Saturdays, Valentines, Easter, or Hogmanay.

There is no cash alternative.

The initial promotional period will begin on Thursday 10 February and end on Friday 16 December 2011.

The Cross reserves the right to withdraw the promotion at any time.
